Intellijel returns with the Atlantix, a Eurorack synth voice that channels the spirit of the Atlantis and the Roland SH-101, but with a modern, patch-hungry twist. In this official walkthrough, the Canadian modular stalwarts show off a module that’s ready to drop into any rack and get you from zero to bassline in seconds—yet it’s bristling with patch points and modulation tricks for the more adventurous. With the ATLX Expander in tow, the Atlantix promises both instant gratification and deep sonic exploration, all wrapped up in Intellijel’s typically practical, hands-on style. Let’s see what this new analog voice brings to the patch table.

Intellijel Atlantix: A Patchable Powerhouse Evolves
Atlantix: The Next-Gen Analog Voice
Intellijel’s Atlantix is introduced as a complete two-oscillator analog synth voice for Eurorack, taking the baton from the much-loved Atlantis. The design draws clear inspiration from the Roland SH-101, a classic known for its immediate, musical sound and deceptively simple architecture. Atlantix, however, is no mere clone—it’s a modern reimagining that aims to deliver both the instant gratification of a self-contained voice and the flexibility demanded by today’s modular users.
From the moment you install it in your rack, Atlantix is ready to go, with all the core synthesis blocks internally patched for quick sound generation. The module’s 42HP footprint packs in everything needed for a classic subtractive patch, but Intellijel has ensured there’s plenty of room for expansion and creative routing. The inclusion of 32 patch points along the top edge signals that this isn’t just a preset machine, but a true modular citizen eager to interact with the rest of your system.

Oscillators, Mixer, and Filter: Shaping the Core Sound

At the heart of Atlantix are two triangle core VCOs, dubbed A and B, each spanning a wide eight-octave range with precise pitch control. Both oscillators offer hard and soft sync options, with the ability to assign sync to either the saw output or the gate input—ideal for percussive textures or more complex timbres. Frequency modulation is well catered for, with exponential and through-zero FM on tap, and pulse width modulation can be sourced from VCO B, the envelope, or an external input.
All audio sources are wrangled in a comprehensive mixer section, which includes VCO A’s waveforms, a sub-oscillator with octave switching, selectable white or pink noise, and two auxiliary inputs. Notably, Aux 2 can bypass the filter and head straight to the VCA, opening up parallel signal paths. The mixer’s flexibility is further enhanced by the ability to bring in additional VCO waveforms or external sources, making it easy to craft layered, evolving sounds before they even hit the filter.
Modulation, Routing, and Patch Point Playground
Atlantix’s signal then flows through a multimode VCF, offering low pass, band pass, high pass, and a phaser mode with dual notches and a resonant peak. Three dedicated modulation sliders provide immediate access to filter movement, with sources including Mod Y, VCO A pitch, and the envelope—all with inversion options for nuanced control. The VCA is paired with an analog ADSR envelope featuring three selectable speed ranges, from snappy plucks to drifting drones, and can be decoupled from the envelope via a gate switch for more advanced patching.
Modulation routing is a highlight, thanks to the Mod X and Mod Y buses. These selectors allow users to quickly assign sources like VCO B, sample and hold, noise, or feedback from various points in the signal chain to key destinations such as FM index or filter cutoff. Polarity and level-shifting switches add further depth, and both buses are available at dedicated outputs for patching elsewhere. Feedback options, sourced from the mixer, VCF, or VCA, can push the sound into chaotic territory, while the 32 patch points let users break internal connections and reroute signals at will.
Self-patching is strongly encouraged, with the ability to completely rearrange the module’s internal architecture or integrate external modules for even greater sonic variety. This modular approach ensures Atlantix is as deep as you want it to be, whether you’re after classic mono synth lines or more experimental textures.

"You can self-patch Atlantix to rearrange its architecture completely, or you can use external modules to introduce fresh new elements."

ATLX Expander: Unlocking Further Patching Potential
For those who find 32 patch points insufficient, the ATLX Expander steps in to add another layer of flexibility. This 6HP passive expander connects directly to the Atlantix, delivering 16 additional patch points that broaden the module’s sonic palette. Among these are dedicated filter outputs for every mode, fixed waveform outputs from both VCOs, a sub-oscillator output, and a ring modulator.
The ring modulator is fed by the sine waves of VCO A and B by default, but users are free to patch in any signal they fancy. This expansion transforms Atlantix from a powerful standalone voice into a fully-fledged modular hub, ready to serve as the centrepiece of a complex patch or to slot seamlessly into a larger system.
Accessible Power for Modular Explorers

"Atlantix keeps sonic exploration simple, but it also brings a level of complexity that can grow along with you and your Eurorack system."

Intellijel positions the Atlantix as both an inviting entry point for newcomers and a deep, versatile tool for seasoned modular heads. Its interface is designed for immediate results—basslines, leads, and experimental tones are all within easy reach—yet the wealth of patch points and modulation options means it can grow with your system and your ambitions. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to add a robust analog voice to your rack, Atlantix offers a compelling blend of simplicity and depth.
